Watch the video of the first metal 3D printed gun.  The firearm was made by a firm holding a Federal Firearm License.  The gun is a copy of a standard U.S. military side arm, the 1911 model. Although there have been  3D printed plastic guns, this is believed to be the first 3d printed gun made with metal.

Solid Concepts of Texas has run their gun through over 600 rounds with no failure.  The metal gun was made on a high-end machine costing tens-of-thousands of dollars.  Desk top 3D printers are not currently capable of printing in metals.
